SKILOGIK pioneered the use of Black Locust, which is harder than the wood used in every other ski. The innovative use of oversized Black Locust sidewalls increases stiffness over the edge and transmits more of your energy to the edge. The result is increased edge hold and a cleaner carve.
Black Magik™ is the hardest sintered base material produced on earth with graphite added in for a racing glide. SKILOGIK’s Black Magik™ base has excellent wax absorption and is extraordinarily durable against rocks. Extra time is taken to ensure that each ski base is not just flat, but perfectly true to provide unmatched performance. Each base is then finished with a fine linear stone grind and a penetrating hot wax.
High Carbon German Steel Edges with extra-wide tabs are bonded across their entire width so that the edge will not blow out. For each ski, SKILOGIK takes one piece of steel and bends it by hand, without heat, to fully wrap the perimeter. Hand bending the edges in this way avoids vulnerable junctions. The edges are finished with 1 degree base bevel and 2 degree side bevel, with finish beveling done by hand.
Clear Iron™ is a technologically advanced coating that protects wood from extreme weather, impacts, and scratches. Created by combining two layers of different formulas, only Clear Iron™ provides a protective wood coating having the toughness to ensure that your skis will look great after punishing use.
SKILOGIK’s artwork has been hailed as the most beautiful ever on skis. Unlike other ski brands which put a piece of printed plastic on top of their skis, SKILOGIK creates a work of art on each pair from natural wood inlays. No coloring is used and the natural variances in wood mean that your pair is as unique as a snowflake. Functionally, the wood layer on top of the ski absorbs and dampens vibrations, providing a smoother ride at high speed and on hard snow.
SKILOGIK's “one pair at time” approach uses matched hardwood cores that are machined side by side on its CNC router to thickness tolerances of plus or minus 0.015 mm. This precision allows SKILOGIK to create multi-dimensional flex patterns while guaranteeing that your left ski is an identical match to your right ski.
A SKILOGIK innovation developed by combining carbon fiber and fiberglass into a Vektor 8™ configuration. The fibers intersect at Vektor 8™ midpoints above and below the hardwood core. Each Vektor 8™ midpoint is a hub of flexion strength emanating in 8 directions. The number of Vektor 8™ midpoints varies with the size of the ski, with most skis having approximately 20,000 midpoints – with wider skis having more. Each Vektor 8™ midpoint increases torsional rigidity to provide improved edge hold for the ultimate in turning performance.
SKILOGIK uses a special vulcanized rubber produced in Japan to provide superior bonding strength on metallic components.
The Howitzer combines SKILOGIK's very best big ski technology in a 110mm waist shell that continues to win performance awards.
Rocker Logik geometry kills crud, yet provides a conventional effective edge for turning performance and features proportionally less surface area behind the boot for deeper pow. Double layers of Carbon Fiber keep the weight down for quickness and skinning. Positive camber keeps it simple and versatile. The Howitzer is a stable ride that blasts the back bowls and the backcountry, tearing off vert like a missile.
