Extraordinary success for Atomic at the Alpine World Ski Championships 2005 in Bormio


With 15 out of 30 possible medals in the single competitions the sporting goods manufacturer from Altenmarkt Atomic finished the Alpine World Ski Championships very successful. In the men’s races 14 out of 15 possible medals were won on Atomic products.
In the disciplines super-G, downhill, giant slalom and combination the gold, silver and bronzemedals went to Atomic athletes, in slalom the gold and bronze medal could be won with Atomic.

Sensational start for Atomic ski boots. The Atomic ski boot concept Race-Tec could show a strong debut at its first start at a big event. All 14 medals at the men’s races were achieved on Atomic ski boots. Thus the Atomic system consisting of ski, boot and binding turned out to be the most superior system of the World Ski Championships.

Benni Raich – superstar of the World Ski Championships 2005
Benni Raich finished the World Ski Championships with an unbelievable success. At 5 starts he stood 5 times on the podium. With his 2 gold medals, 1 silver medal and 1 bronze medal in the single competitions he wrote ski history.

Hermann Maier’s great comeback in giant slalom
After 14 years Hermann Maier could win again a gold medal in giant slalom for Austria. Hermann Maier also changed to Atomic ski boots as Benni Raich, Michael Walchhofer and many other athletes. Also in this discipline the first four places (Hermann Maier, Benni Raich, Daron Rahlves, Kalle Palander) were achieved on Atomic skis, bindings and boots.

Bode Miller – king of the speed competitions
With two gold medals the Atomic athlete Bode Miller clearly dominated the speed competitions. Bode Miller, who is on the Atomic system (ski, boot, binding) for the first season has confirmed the good results of this season impressively. In doing so he provided a hot duel with his Atomic team colleague and winner of the silver medal Daron Rahlves.

Medal winners from 4 nations
The strategy to work intensively with all important ski nations has also successfully confirmed in Bormio. So athletes from 4 nations could win medals on Atomic products in the single competitions. Beside participants from Austria there were athletes from USA (Bode Miller, Daron Rahlves), Italy (Giorgio Rocca) and Norway (Aksel Lund Svindal). Florian Eckert and Felix Neureuther from Germany stood on the top of the podium in the team competition.

Young racers show flag for the first time
Also the young racers in the Atomic team could show strong result in single competitions and in the team competition. Beside Marlies Schild as winner of the bronze medal in combination Kathrin Zettel, Therese Borssen, Erik Guay, Felix Neureuther have passed their World Ski Championships debut with flying colours.
