Carbon Fiber is not new in the skiing industry. Many manufacturers include carbon strips within their skis, and some build completely carbon skis. The difference between C6 skis and others carbon fiber skis, is the unique Autoclave Cured Carbon Prepreg (ACCP) technology that C6 has developed over 17 years in the carbon composite business. Almost any other carbon ski is constructed using the wet lamination process involving carbon cloth soaked in resin and sandwiched together. This results in a resin rich laminate, adding excess weight. Wet lamination also cannot prevent inconsistent direction of the fibers so reducing the quality of stiffness and results in a softer ski.
The C6 ACCP ski sandwich is laminated using unidirectional Prepreg carbon fiber. These skins are cooked in our autoclave at 8 atmospheres of pressure and 110 C˚. The advantage in this method of laminating is its perfect alignment of fibers. There is no scaffolding woven into it so all the fibers are straight and the laminate has considerably less resin, providing more stiffness for very little weight.
There is no plastic top sheet on a C6 ski. The twill weave carbon on the top surface of the ski is very hard and durable meaning no top sheet is required. This saves more weight and leaves the symbolic C6 matt black carbon finish on the ski.
Our core is a composite of 4 x 0.6mm layers of bamboo right to the ends of the ski (we don’t use tip fill). This is combined with high density Corecell foam in the middle of the sandwich to add thickness under foot without adding weight. The vacuum molded method of pressing the laminates of the ski together perfectly distributes the pressure, evenly spreading the bend profile of the ski.
The Green Wall Technology is designed to protect the side of the ski from dings and each other. Without these green walls the core of the ski would be exposed and the sides would be vulnerable to nasty scratches and helps prevent your skis looking like crap after one season.
The Judge is C6's ultimate free riding apparatus. With a solid 105 width underfoot this ski gives you plenty of surface area for a stable platform when dropping off piste. With a rockered tip and tail system with slight camber underfoot this ski still provides stability at speed without sacrificing its performance in the back country. The slick tapered nose and tail shape helps to initiate the edge in the turn.
